I love this woman, she is fantastic and I'm so glad she had another birthday
I got her the smithsonian field guide to backyard birds which I think she likes. She has been looking at the birdfeeders and the approaching spring with longing.
I caught one of Dad's ever present smirks and he's glad she had another birthday too.

It was a phrase I used often through my childhood and still today. I am always looking at people and trying to decide what type of animal or dog a person would be and thought I would share some of my thoughts with popular faces. (Breed descriptions taken from the American Kennel Club)
Yorkshire Terriers, affectionately known as "Yorkies," offer big personalities in a small package. Though members of the Toy Group, they are terriers by nature and are brave, determined, investigative and energetic. They have long, luxurious blue and tan coats...Eyes are medium in size and not too prominent; dark in color and sparkling with a sharp, intelligent expression. Eye rims are dark.
Originally called the Brittany Spaniel, it is now referred to simply as the Brittany...Expression--Alert and eager, but with the soft expression of a bird dog. Eyes--Well set in head. Well protected from briars by an expressive eyebrow.
The Bull Terrier is best described as a three year-old child in a dog suit...Head
Should be long, strong and deep right to the end of the muzzle, but not coarse...The forehead should be flat across from ear to ear. The Chineese Crested is a fine boned, elegent dog that craves human companionship. Expression - Alert and intense. Eyes - Almond-shaped, set apart. Dark-colored dogs have dark-colored eyes, and lighter-colored dogs may have lighter-colored eyes. Eye rims match the coloring of the dog.
Referred to as an aristocrat, the Afghan Hound’s appearance is one of aloofness. The striking characteristics of the breed-exotic, or "Eastern," expression, long silky topknot, peculiar coat pattern, very prominent hipbones, large feet, and the impression of a somewhat exaggerated bend in the stifle due to profuse trouserings-

The other day I was listening to the birds twitter their "good morning" to the sun and breathing in the cool, crisp spring air and I began to feel so blissfully happy and appreciative for this glorious world God has given us. I thought of The Sound of Music and Maria's song "Favorite Things" and I wanted to take a second and make my own short list of a few of MY favorite things. (Whiskers on kittens? No way)
-Sunshine.
-Watching a horse wake in the morning, yawn and stretch its sleepy frame.
-Family.
-That beautiful spring green that lets me use cadmium yellow light and lemon yellow.
-Warm home-made bread, and eating it with people I love.
(Things that I Hate? Snow in April and Bitter cold wind.)

Family Day in Snow Canyon
we went to Snow Canyon for the day and hiked in the sunshine. It was Great!
